8 Reasons Businesses Love Freelancers

The freelance revolution is fueling business, as a growing number of companies are turning to independent professionals to get their projects done.

As the freelancing revolution gains momentum, companies can win big.

Why Companies Win

The business benefits of hiring a freelancer include:

1. Cost savings:
Businesses can save a significant amount of money by foregoing such overhead costs as health and dental benefits, retirement savings and office space. The growing freelance community offers a diverse variety of experience and rates, so you can find affordable talent within your budget.

2. Time savings:
Performing certain business tasks is simply not the best use of time for busy entrepreneurs, executives and their teams. Hiring freelancers can free up time to allow you to focus on delighting your clients and experienced freelancers often have a flat learning curve in their area of expertise.

3. Reduced effort:
If an urgent project pops up and your full-time staff lack the bandwidth to complete it, a freelancer is often happy to do the work. You can also outsource the drudgery of important yet mundane tasks.

4. Quality:
Companies can access excellent talent by collaborating with proven freelancers, who often distinguish themselves with value-added service to make clients happy and loyal. That’s why Burlington, Ontario-based freelance writer and trainer Gail Mercer-MacKay encourages other freelancers to act “less as a vendor and more as a partner … invested in their [client’s] success and thinking about the bigger picture.”

5. Passion:
Freelancers tend to be positive, self-motivated and engaged, driven by a genuine desire to deliver their best work because they love what they do.

6. Low risk:
Since there is no long-term commitment, companies can hire freelancers on demand on a per-project basis rather than a time-bound contract. If clients dislike a freelancer or their work, they’re able to move on with greater ease and less risk.

7. Fresh perspective:
Hiring an “outsider” who sees things differently can enrich your company’s efforts, as a freelancer can share unique insights and offer new skill sets.

8. Less stress:
As experienced, independent professionals, freelancers are less likely to require hand-holding. They can help you integrate your business strategy with their functional expertise, so you feel organized, relieved and in control.

  1. You nailed it Lisa. Freelancers help companies to save cost and have a resource that is expert in the given domain. Talking about the resource, a freelancer can stay at his own comfort level while working for you and thus can be productive.

Only problem I found is to stay informed and updated about the tasks given to him. If someone is around, you can monitor them easily saves time while moderating and updating the content to match your expectations.
